Malia
The other side of Malia

Besides frenetic entertainment, Malia can also welcome those of you who wish to rest and enjoy the sun and the wonderful sea. The paved alleys of the old village hide a lot of surprises.
Take a walk to the square of Panagia Galatianiand don’t hesitate to taste traditional Cretan dishes at the cafes and taverns around the square.
Head for the small square of Agios Georgios, perhaps one of the most relaxing places to eat and enjoy your summer drink, in the old village as well.
At noon make a stop at the archeological site of Malia, the palace of Sarpidon, Minoas’ brother. Afterwards, take a swim at the beach known to the locals as “potamos” (=river) and finally don’t forget to pass from the port of Malia, where at daytime you can enjoy fresh fish!
Next to Malia, the more quiet area of Stalida is ready to host your family holidays at its beautiful beaches and well-known taverns. With small stores for your shopping, but also quiet bars for your drink, this area promises you relaxing and entertainment at the same time!
At a distance of only 15 minutes at the north of Malia, in a path going through the canyon, there is the traditional village Krassi. The huge platan of the square, whose trunk can’t be embraced by even 10 persons in a row, will welcome you with lots of cold raki and Cretan dishes. Don’tforgettoquenchyourthirstwith the crystal clear water from the spring of the square!
A little bit further, the traditional village Mohos waits to treat you to Cretan delicatessen and to familiarize you with the lyre and Cretan entertainment through the traditional nights organized in its central square.
